My luckiest moment was when we found our first (and current) house. We started the house hunt at the peak of the crash and just when we were about to give up, bam, there she was!

I inherited a hutch my parents bought the first year they were married (1973). It had aged into an odd shade of old stain. The first thing I did was paint it a crisp white. My mom was a little freaked out at first, but she loved it! After exploring your blog, I’m now brave enough to give it a new facelift. I’m going to paint it a mossy green to match a vintage chair I bought off craigslist for $15! I’ve been recommending your blog to everyone who will listen!

Our luckiest moment came when we wanted to knock out a wall between our kitchen and living room. My husband took the dremmil and cautiously started sawing away without knowing if there were any pipes or major lines running through the wall. We breathed a huge sigh of relief when the wall was free and clear and down it came!

JOSS ME! Our luckiest home-ownership moment was actually the time we stopped being homeowners…we sold our first home (after pouring much blood, sweat and tears into it) in one week for double what we paid. And then literally 1 month later the housing market did a nosedive. Talk about lucky timing.

My luckiest moment was searching a thrift store for the perfect chair. The person helping me kept telling me $100 for this chair or $75 for that chair…etc. Finally, I found the perfect one, vintage looking but easy to reupholster. When I asked how much, I was dreading a $50 comment or something close. When he said “5 dollars” I almost jumped with joy!!! I bought it :)

I wanted to find a corner hutch for my new house and found it in Fargo, ND at a wonderful antique/speciality store when I was in town to celebrate my Mothers 76th birthday. My sister and I walked into the store and wandered through wanting to buy everything, I turned the corner and said “Oh my God, this is exactly what i envisioned”. I looked at the back and it is a Thomasmoore, retailed for $150 but I talked them down to $125. I had to borrow my brothers van to drive it back to Southern Minnesota. Very thankful to have found the perfect piece that fit perfectly in my house!!! I love finding the unique pieces to fit inside my house.
I really enjoy Young House Love blog and have learned a lot from the projects you share with us.
    Thanks,
    Colleen

My luckiest moment when my husband found our current home while I was out of town with kids. He went house hunting with our realtor and found a great home for our family. He put in an offer and a few months later we moved in. It has been a great move for our family.

Really haven’t been so lucky in the home department. Two years ago we unexpectedly had to gut our freshly purchased house (due to undisclosed termite damage). Today, we have a small DIY home with a baby due in a few weeks — all said, luckiest moment. Finding a claw foot tub on craigslist for $50. :-)

We were so lucky to have gotten a home warranty when we bought our home. The day after we moved in (in the middle of August humidity…) our central air unit died and began flooding our basement. The repairs and replacement would have cost thousands, but the warranty completely covered everything!

My luckiest house moment — after driving through the night we pulled into our new apartment complex tired and cranky at 10 a.m. We soon found out that the apartment we had secured had a pest problem…… They upgraded my fiance and I to a two bedroom, two bathroom, HUGE apartment for the same price as our original single. Bonus!

Besides winning this fab freebie, our luckiest moment was during the purchase of our home. Our 1922 Craftsman Bungalow was vacant when it was listed, but still had a porch swing on it…we loved it and asked for it to be included in the purchasing agreement. Little did we know at the time that the porch swing was made by the original owner of the house and constructed with tree branches he collected from the park across the street. Score one for us!

I don’t own my own place yet, or even rent. So I can only dream of all the things I will do and buy once I get my own place (I’m saving up now and will hopefully be out of my Dad’s house in the next 6 months). In the mean time, I “pinterest” everything I love and wish for and hopefully it will all be on crazy sale when I’m ready to buy!

Joss me! Our luckiest moment was stumbling into oir current home the day that it went onto the market. It was the model home and had tons of upgrades that we loved and just felt like home from first walking in the door. The lucky thing was that we weren’t even on the market (we scout out model homes for staging and decorating ideas) and when we applied for financing, we were approved! Double lucky!
