i had been looking at all the local thrift stores for weeks trying to find a small stool/ottoman to recover for our baby’s room and i couldn’t find one anywhere. Friday before last i was on my way home from work when i decided to stop at a garage sale. Lo and behold, she was selling the PERFECT ottoman/stool thing that i needed for $3. score!

I think my luckiest home improvement moment was finding the perfect place for my husband and I to live in until we buy our first house in the next year. We’ve done a lot to our small place since moving in, including adding a nursery for our newborn!

Joss Me! My luckiest house improvement find were craigslist finds for our kitchen table and cutie pie chairs….they worked out perfectly in the space. Sometimes craigslist finds don’t pan out like you want them to. But these look great and we are still happy with them even 3 years later. Yippee!!!

JOSS ME!! My luckiest moment was when my mom was sitting out on our patio and saw someone put an old armoire out by the trash and she grabbed it up. Refinished it and now its beautiful sitting in our dining room! And not to mention getting a crib/mattress and a dresser pretty much brand new for $50! I’m due in Jan. :)

JOSS ME!! I have two lucky moments. One was our scoring our sweet little side-by-side duplex with the world’s best tenant already included. Two was finding the perfect guest bed comforter. I had been online-stalking it at Target, and it was temporarily unavailable for months. I’m walking around in the store one day, when my eyes drift to the bottom shelf of an end rack. Lo and behold, it’s my comforter that’s been returned with nothing wrong with it, and is now half off!!! SCORE :)

Luckiest and most meant to be moment was when we were trying to sell our house and find something cheaper so I could become a stay-at-home mom – we had not one but TWO offers on our house fall thru. It sounds unlucky and at the time I was in tears, but it was actually the best thing that could have happened to us. About a month later my hubby got a much better job closer to home, I found a babysitting job and we were able to stay in our house which we really didn’t want to leave anyway!!!

Having a dad who is an amazing carpenter/contractor has been my luckiest home improvement “moment”…it’s been more like hours…days…weeks! When I didn’t think it was such a great idea to take a wall down in the kitchen, he showed me how wrong I was. He has encouraged me to make bold decisions and has discouraged me from making bad paint choices (too bold)! Thanks dad!
On a side note…I have only recently started following design/diy blogs and YHL is by far my fav! Thanks for all of the tips, adivce and inspiration.
